Following the BCCI\u2019s decision to postpone India\u2019s white-ball tour of Bangladesh scheduled for next month, India Today has learned that at least two cricket boards – including Sri Lanka – have proposed a limited-overs series to fill the gap.<\/p>\n
India was originally set to travel to Bangladesh in August for a three-match ODI and T20I series. But the series has now been postponed to September 2026<\/strong>. With that tour on hold, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has offered to host an identical series, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.<\/p>\n This development could pave the way for the return of former India captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – both of whom have retired from Tests and T20Is – to don the India jersey again.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have received a few requests and are exploring our options. There are a few boards who do not have any cricket assignments during that period and have offered to play with India within that window,\u201d said a top source in the know of developments.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the BCCI has raised objections to the venue for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting. Scheduled for July 24 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the BCCI has formally requested a change in location and may consider withdrawing from the meeting if the venue remains unchanged.<\/p>\n \u201cUnder the prevailing circumstances and the political upheaval in Bangladesh, it wasn\u2019t appropriate to travel to the country. We have officially informed the ACC to shift the venue of the next meeting,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n Regarding the upcoming Asia Cup, the BCCI is expected to seek guidance from the Indian government on whether to proceed with the tournament in the UAE.<\/p>\n According to the proposed schedule, the Asia Cup is set to begin on September 5, with a high-profile India-Pakistan clash scheduled for September 7.<\/p>\n \u201cThe proposal for the Asia Cup to be played in the UAE was drafted even before the Pahalgam attack.
